Cousin Paul the First Busey

Is this Paul Busey or Paul Bucey?Paul Busey, born supposedly about 1620, was transported to America, presumably from England, by Henry Cox, the former husband of Paul's mother Elizabeth.  As was the custom, to encourage settlers, Cox demanded title to land for having helped populate the colonies, according to the land records of Colvert (Calvert) County, Maryland.

The relationship of Henry, Paul, and Elizabeth is not entirely clear.  One hypothesis is that back in England, Elizabeth bore Paul from her former marriage to Paul's father who had the surname Busey.  Continuing with this unproven idea, Elizabeth later was widowed, then married Henry Cox as her second husband, and Henry became either adoptive father or guardian of Paul.  Elizabeth later died somewhere, either before or after the voyage, or didn't attempt the voyage, in which case Henry either divorced her or pretended she was dead.

Alternatively, Henry divorced Elizabeth back in England, Elizabeth remarried, the second time to a Busey, and Paul assumed the name of his adoptive Busey stepdad, and Henry, who had maintained a working relationship with Elizabeth, said, "How would Paul like to be an indentured servant, that way we can get to America?"  Far-fetched, but stranger things have happened.

Use your imagination.  Was Henry the first, the second, or the third husband of Elizabeth?  Could there have been any motive for Henry to have made up a story about his relationship with Paul's mom?  Considering that the historical record gives us a tangible documentation (below) on the history of the first Busey in America, and the details are still not complete, what are we to do with the rest of the story for which there is no documentation?  ~ Cousin Phil
